UPDATE: More Details On Personal Life Of EgyptAir Domestic Flight Hijacker Revealed

Ibrahim Samaha, the hijacker of an EgyptAir flight that landed in Cyprus on Tuesday has demanded asylum on the Mediterranean island, Egyptian state radio said.

The man, who is not Egyptian, asked for a translator to press his demand, it added, without providing further details.

The airline said four non-Egyptian passengers and the crew were still being held on the plane.

The EgyptAir plane hijacker’s ex-wife is currently living in Cyprus which indicates personal motives were behind the hijack, Egyptian state-run TV reported on Tuesday.

The plane, an EgyptAir domestic flight moving from Alexandria to the capital Cairo, was forced to land in Cyprus’ Larnaca Airport earlier on Tuesday.

Samaha was on Seat 38 k, they added.

UPDATE:

At least five more people have been released from a hijacked EgyptAir plane that was diverted to Larnaca airport in Cyprus, an AFP correspondent at the scene said.

The five, wearing what appeared to be crew uniforms, could be seen descending from the aircraft, the correspondent said.

  1. Being in a hijacked plane can really be scary and frustrating because you cannot do anything while on air. That's why people from professional essay writing service online are very careful in choosing their flights.
